What it’s like to work with Kevin
Kevin has a unique combination of qualities that help people feel quickly at ease and confident in his care. His ability to address serious topics combines with a natural, easygoing nature and ability to laugh. Kevin helps people feel safe and comfortable, and his clients describe feeling heard and understood and humanized—not broken.
His diverse life experience makes it easy for Kevin to relate to his clients—his 15 years of military experience, having gone through different types of traumas throughout life, and having a successful marriage (with plenty of accompanying difficulties and challenges). Kevin is particularly able to relate to Veterans and men in particular, helping them feel at ease and to talk about the hard things that they don’t normally like to talk about.
A Note From Kevin
“I love helping people feel seen and heard—the best moments are when their eyes light up and they exclaim “exactly!” It’s wonderful when I’m connecting with my clients and their old burden of feeling crazy or stupid for what they’re thinking or feeling melts away. I’ve helped alleviate the baggage they’ve carried around for so long, alone. Now they don’t feel so alone.
“My clients feel empowered to be genuine and authentic and not weighed down by the “shoulds and musts” of life. They feel liberated to be themselves and not worry as much about other’s opinions. I help people find confidence in who they are or are becoming in the journey of life, and support them in brave vulnerability with a partner or themselves. It is of course exhilarating to see that happen.
“I love my work with people, and I bring a unique combination of personality, experience, perspective, and empathy to the room. I’ve ultimately learned that relationships are difficult because they’re important to us but they can and do get easier when we invest our time and attention. I deeply believe that people, generally speaking, are not ‘sucking on purpose.’ I believe we’re all doing the best we can, even when our best sucks. We’re usually products of our society and upbringing and cultural norms. We are simultaneously the author and victim/survivor of our life stories. I feel honored to help people find their bravery and courage.”
